September 11th - 10 years later...

10 years later...
After ten years, all the world does not only remember 9/11 but also pays tribute to those who lost their lives and those who helped to save many other lives, the real heroes of America.
The 9/11 attacks were a series of four coordinated suicide attacks against targets in New York and Washington, D.C. on September 11, 2001. On that morning, 19 terrorists hijacked four passenger jets. The
hijackers intentionally crashed two planes into the Twin Towers of the WTC (World Trade Center) in New York City; both towers collapsed within two hours. Hijackers crashed a 3rd plane into the Pentagon (Virginia). When passengers attempted to take control of the fourth plane, it crashed into a field near Shanksville, Pennsylvania, preventing it from reaching its intended target in Washington, D.C. Nearly 3,000 died in the attacks.
And why, after 10 years, are we still talking, writing and remembering it? Is it really
necessary?
In my opinion YES! First of all, as the History teacher from my school, Elaine, said (and I agree) it's a moment of reflection. It shows that being safe is important but it's much more important being aware of how fragile our life is. Lots of people left their homes that morning simply to go to work and they didn't come back anymore. It was their last day and for sure all of us will have a last day...hope that untill there we can make the best we can to live a
truly good life. Check what Elaine wrote about it on:
Second, all that violence is generated by intolerance and unfortunately it is against people, such as Americans, Muslims and so many others. It also generated a huge prejudice and their lives have been changed forever by the violence and hatred, and a lot of people have been living in constant fear...fear for their lives. Is that the world we want to live in? How could we overcome that and keep on living without this extra fear in our heart?
Maybe that's the reason why we should honor 9/11...to remember that if our life is not exactly the way we have planned...it could be so much worse...living in constant fear it's not a way of life! Not at all!
